How much to sell my scuba gear for?

scuba regulator
karibik172003 asked:

I have some fairly old scuba gear that I would like to sell or get rid of. I have a pair of women’s size 6 booties, gloves, vest w/regulator, knife and scabbard, fins, snorkle and mask. It hasn’t been used much but is fairly old. What would be a good asking price for these things?

How Not To Have Holiday Weight Gain?

scuba diver
Chris Chew asked:

As a professional fitness instructor, I often have clients asking me, “Hey Chris, I am going for a holiday vacation, I am afraid to gain weight during my vacation. What should I do?” or “I am going for my honeymoon and I always gain weight when I travel, can you teach me how to lose holiday weight gain without ruining my honeymoon?”

Actually the answer to holiday weight loss or preventive weight gain is a very simple. Just choose the holiday package with a lot of physical activities. Instead of going to the traditional tourist sight seeing trips, choose holiday activities that require you to burn calories and yet have fun. Yes, you can have a fun filled holiday and yet able to keep your weight in check!

Here are a few vacation holiday activities where you can have fun and yet will keep your weight easily in control.

Holiday Cruise - Your first thought would probably be how could you maintain your weight going on holiday cruises? It may escape you that most vacation cruise ships have sports facilities built in from tennis courts to gyms with full equipments and fitness personal trainers to boot. Some may even conduct weight loss classes on board the cruise liners. If you are going on a honeymoon cruise, what better way is there to lose weight and keep fit with your beloved spouse?

Winter Skiing - This is a no brainer. Skiing down mountain slopes require a lot of muscle work, coordination, cardio workout and flexibility. So can you imagine how many calories you can burn during your skiing winter holidays?

Weight loss camps - Sign up with a weight loss camp for your vacation. Weight loss camps are usually designed like a holiday resort and are usually located in very scenic locations such as on majestic mountains, pristine beaches or nestle in lush tropical rainforests. You can get a vacation holiday in a resort like environment and get to lose weight at the same time. Two for the price of one, eh?

Scuba diving - Did you ever notice that most scuba diving instructors have well toned muscles and attractive bodies? This is because they scuba dive almost every day leading novice divers sometimes up to 3 dives a day including night dives.

As a scuba diver and a former diving instructor myself, I know that the sport of scuba diving can be physically demanding for someone who is unfit and the activities burn a lot of calories. For example, you need to carry your own scuba gear, climb up and down the boats with heavy gear and at times swim against heavy currents every day at the same time looking after your trainees.

On top of that, the tan you get from sun exposure gives you a healthy glow and muscle toning illusion. So you want control your holiday weight gain? Go on a scuba diving vacation.

Use your creative imagination to easily come out with more holiday vacation ideas that can help you lose weight or at least not to have holiday weight gain.

Rogerhockey999 asked:

On July 5th, 2008 Roger Muller is seen here break dancing in full scuba equipment. Video by Kelsey Muller. Unfortunately a friend Rehan and manager of Triangle Diving in Bermuda cuts in front of Kelsey while she was filming. Roger does another performance and things work out. Think about what it is like 40 feet down and spinning around in circles on your head.

when scuba diving because you have limited amount of air, how is the air inhaled in regards to the rate of breathing? is it done at a rate which is normal to that of being out of water like everyday breathing? or do you have to control your breathing and hold your breaths before inhaling again? does a person who is scared of water or deep seas use more air than a normal diver? lastly what is a rebreather is this different to scuba tank air? and if it is which method gives more time underwater?

Scuba lifesaving aid - RescuEAN Pod

RescuEANDiver asked:

The RescuEAN Pod is a life-saving aid for the qualified diver finding themselves in a situation where an O2 kit is unavailable, already being used or exhausted. It has been designed for use with a dive accident patient whether conscious, semi-conscious or unconscious.

The pod is easily recognisable, light and compact enough to carry at all times and is simple to use as it connects directly to the rescue diver’s Nitrox cylinder low pressure hoses.

The pod allows the O2 enriched Nitrox mix to be given to a dive patient at a constant, controlled flow of either 15 or 25 litres per minute - via an oral/nasal mask with an O2 inlet. It is constructed of 316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel, plastic and rubber — making the pod robust and corrosion resistant. When in water it becomes negatively buoyant and quickly drains on return to land or boat.

The RescuEAN pod’s development was to fill the ‘gap’ between basic Emergency First Response ‘mouth to mouth’ and the best form of O2 provision; the full 100% O2 rescue kit.

We all know the training manuals ‘diver certifying’ associations state, “If you run out of oxygen, but have enriched air Nitrox available, you can give that to a responsive patient via the scuba regulator”. But a rescue diver using enriched air Nitrox could be in a situation that:

• The patient may be unconscious or just semi-conscious and breathing shallowly.
• The dive location may be remote and, as sport divers, they may not have a full 100% O2 kit readily accessible.
• The patient may be on a private rib or boat where a full 100% O2 kit is also not available.
• Emergency Services may take in excess of the all important 10 minutes, to reach the patient.
